January 22: Welcome To Dinner
Hi everyone. I'm just making dinner and thinking of all of you. Had a brilliant time being a part of the Earthquake Relief benefit concert at Aeolian Hall last night. Their goal was to raise $10,000 and they raised over $15,000 thanks to all of you who came and donated. Super-brilliant for something put together so quickly. Everyone involved was just running around like mad making sure it was going smoothly, and so much heart was in the hall. Lots of volunteers and sweet musicians.
I played "Tell My Sister" by Kate & Anna. So nervous to play one of Kate's brilliantly crafted songs. I had to have all the chords and lyrics in front of me, but I made it! What a beautiful song.
Well this weekend we are packing and moving and it's an enormous amount of work. Luckily we have some little stars coming to help paint and anyway I'm ready to throw everything into boxes and jump into bed and pull the covers over my head. So many boxes! Luckily we have movers this time as it was very hard to see my brother and all our good friends lift the piano last time. That's how you know someone is a friend, they'll lift your bloody piano and smile while doing it.
Tomorrow I have a strrrrrring session for Dylan's EP which I'm producing. I love strings!
Dinner could be burning, so I'm gonna go down and check on it soon.
I think I got asked to be on a reality show today about musicians who are one-hit wonders looking for a second chance at...something. Well, I was "asked"...people ask you to do stuff but they're really just throwing your name into the mix to see if you're up for it. I tried to read the description of the show and had no idea where I fit in. I mean, I never really had a hit, but I guess I am a little wonder. Little wonders don't do reality shows though. What is it, 2 thousand and frickin 5? Still, I get curious.
Right. Dinner. Burning. That's a reality show for you. Cook with 3-Time Juno Nominee Emm Gryner, sponsored by St. John Ambulance and Dicon Smoke Detectors.
