Dec 27, 2009: How I Spent My Holidays

Before Christmas we went to my cousin Paul's house to see his "christmas display":

It is an assembly of miniature villages, carefully constructed allbeit not adhering to modern urban planning regulations.

He has 3 cats and i became quickly allergic and had to leave.

On my way out of town I spotted, for the first time in my life, a pick-up truck with a spoiler on it:

wow. I bet that guy gets a lot of chicks. Chicks who have no understanding of aerodynamics as it relates to farm vehicles.

My mom volunteers for the charity IODE, and when a house burned down nearby, she and I brought some blankets and sleeping bags for the family. Luckily, no one was harmed. In my own volunteer work I learned how quickly fire can spread, so make sure you're very careful this season. It only takes a few minutes.

I drive my mom and the blankets to the owner of the house.

The house once belonged to my childhood friend Barclay. We dueted on "Hound Dog" by Elvis when we were really little. He used to wear shirts made out of the American flag when he was 11. Of course, he moved to the US the first chance he got and now lives there.

The next weird thing I came across during the holidays was this:

My brother models this floral piece of luggage.

What on earth could be inside this?

You guessed it - a teapot!

Turns out that the bag is not really a piece of luggage but an antique tea-cozy my mom found. I wager this would not be allowed as carry-on on any U.S.-bound flights anytime soon.

Here's a grainy little picture of me playing piano when I was a few years out of diapers:

Not pictured: my parents whipping me into playing my piano parts correctly.

On Christmas day, I went to visit the other side of my family in Mississauga. They do a gift exchange so I wrapped up a gluten-free fruitcake that my mom re-gifted to me.

I'm not sure why we received this fruitcake, and who exactly made it. No one is allergic to gluten in our family, nor is anyone intolerant.

my cousin-in-law Mike goes in for the first taste:

The result?

Pure joy!

And here my brother-in-law Ryan expresses his joy for the fruitcake:

I think I brought a pretty good gift!

Back at my family home in the sticks, we decided to play Lego with my nephew Liam.
